Valiakhmetov Fazyl Abdullovich, born March 14, 1955, citizen of Russia, resident of the village of Karabash in the Republic of Tatarstan, local historian, journalist, veteran of the Tatar national movement, headed the museum-library of the repressed Tatar public figure, historian and Turkologist Hadi Atlasi. Charged under Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces for the purpose of protecting the interests of the RF and its citizens, maintaining international peace and security, committed by a person after he or she has been brought to administrative responsibility for a similar act within one year”, up to 5 years' imprisonment) and Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public justification of terrorist activity using the Internet”, up to 7 years' imprisonment), for a combination of crimes - up to 10 years and 6 months' imprisonment. Deprived of liberty since December 5, 2024.
